About ABLED

As a DHHS-certified Medicaid waiver provider, ABLED specializes in Developmental Disabilities Waiver and Aging & Disability Waiver programs. Additionally, ABLED is a certified Risk Provider with LIMHP on staff. The organization is even expanding into mental health services. We are committed to providing comprehensive care and support tailored to each person’s unique needs.

ABLED’s staff work closely with each individual to build skills and self-reliance. Focusing on what participants can do rather than what they can’t. This combination of compassion and expertise helps ABLED create a caring culture. Overall, the organization’s name – ABLED – reflects its belief that every person is able to live a full, meaningful life with the right support.

Our Story

On October 7,  2012, Andrew C. Tagart left this world for the heavenly realm. Andrew touched countless lives, and in his honor, Andrew’s friends and family came together to form ABLED.

In February 2014, ABLED was founded with the mission of serving individuals with intellectual disabilities in Nebraska.

ABLED celebrated ten years of service in 2024. In May of 2025, the agency highlighted four long-term participants who have been with ABLED since the beginning.
